Printing is a strange one when it comes to value added tax with certain products being zero rated and others standard rated. As a GENERAL rule of thumb leaflets, brochures and booklets are zero rated so we have defaulted these products to ZERO RATE VAT, however, depending on the application these items are being used for may result in them becoming a VAT product, so we reserve the right to add VAT if we believe this is required. top
The picture gets complicated when brochures that are zero rated on paper may be standard rated if printed on card - confused.
Business stationery is ALL STANDARD RATED as are POSTCARDS and POSTERS
If you are unsure about VAT either ask one of our print advisors at your nearest centre, drop us an e.mail or even check out the latest at the VAT Office web page the document you are looking for is "Notice 701/10" - Printed and Similar Matter. We have provided a link direct to the VAT web page: www.hmce.gov.uk top
